Summary
Clarity is designed so that your financial data stays on your iPhone. Our server only keeps what is needed to connect to your bank through Plaid. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
What we collect and where it lives
- On your device: account names, balances, transactions, categories, notes and detected recurring payments. This data is stored locally in the app and is deleted when you delete the app.
- On our server: for each bank you connect, an encrypted access token issued by Plaid, the institution's name and the connection status. Your app is identified by a random device key; we store only a one-way hash of it. We do not store balances, transactions or your bank login credentials.
- Plaid: when you connect a bank, you sign in through Plaid. Your bank username and password are handled by Plaid and are never seen by Clarity. See the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
How data is used
Our server uses the Plaid access token only to fetch your account and transaction data when the app asks for it, and passes that data directly to your device. Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Access tokens are encrypted at rest.
Sharing
We share data only with Plaid, as needed to provide the bank connection. We do not sell personal information.
Your choices
- Disconnect a bank in the app at any time; this removes the connection at Plaid and deletes its token from our server.
- Deleting the app removes all locally stored financial data.
- To request deletion of any remaining server records, email us.
